Doujin Overload 2008 came n gone~
it was pretty fun, compared to past few years.
overall we did pretty good actully, compared to past sales.
there really isn't any de-provements really.
the book was pricy, but it went well luckily, what a relief.
i think as group members of this studio
we all owed our asses to Des for his hard work this year.
he did a great job sorting out the group issues.
and also hunted down an excellent printer for us to use.
not to mention the the biggest job of all,
he putted the book together this year.
it was an excellent job well done, highly professional.
honestly u made my degree look like child's play.
put it down simply, without him, we won't even be in the event this year.
so i think we should all show our deepest gratitudes towards Des for an excellent project completed.
especially from me, as i all of a sudden decided to drop out, thus putting my end of the stress on you.
sorry bro, i owe u one.
thanx Des, from all of us, it just simply won't happen without u this year.
Now that the event is over, we should all, for now, just get on with our lifes.
because i know every one's pretty busy in one way or another.
so let's not think about next year for now.
if there's ganna be a DO 2009, we can talk about that later at near end of the year.
when we're all on breaks n free from stress.
job well done guys, n special thanx to Des.

Just in case you hadn't heard (i just found out). The DO website has now updated with floor plan and our location.
Seems fine with me....whadya guys think? Not that it can be changed at this stage.
27th June 2008
Sorry guys, gotta postpone this meeting. I just checked the opening times for the shop and it seems they're closed over the weekends. There's no point going to the city if we can't get to the print store.
The new meeting date is on Monday, first thing. 1pm at the underground arcade. I don't think we'll need to discuss the layout in which case because i expect to get this book just about completed over the weekend; that is, unless the printers have an issue with something.
So yeah, assuming i'll have the book just about completed by then and the times are ok with you guys, on Monday we'll be meeting up and going straight to the printers to sort out the hardcopy stuff and get a quote on how much this'll cost us.
This doesn't mean a time bonus. I still need everything in by Saturday so i can get it all sorted by the time we meet up. I want to get this done asap just incase the printers might not complete their job in time for DO.
Regarding the progress of arranging the book, i've got 10 pages set to go (consisting mainly of my own work and the cover), which is a third of the book done.
I still need Kody's stuff and Jeri's sketches + image titles. Need yer last name too Kody, if you don't mind (i think i mentioned it before, but just in case you forgot).
** the image titles for the sketches themselves don't have to be too deep or anything. Most of my sketches are titled 'Character Sketches', so if you just want to go along with something like that, feel free. **
Hum... i'm making the content page now, but after that it's up to you fellas to send in the stuff required. Otherwise i can't make anymore progress.
And that's it. I'll see you guys on Monday.
edit: Oh, and I came up with a title for the book; PAUCIS VERBIS. It's latin for "in a few words", referring to the chosen words we used to base our images on. I don't wanna sound like im totally running the book here, although i kinda am given the circumstances lol, so if you think it should be changed feel free to say so and pitch in some suggestions. Just bear in mind we can't waste much time trying to figure out a title.

22 June 2008.
One month left guys, that's only 4 weeks. A heads up to each of you fellas.
Jeri: With the sketches, i actually need them in 300dpi like the others so it'll fit on the page. Other than that, it's kool. I'm trying to make a deposit with Paypal right now so i can get the hang of the process. If it works out smoothly, i think we can just use this to sort out money matters. If not.. then i aint looking forward to the abnormally huge return fee..
Kody: Need those artworks asap. Plus any sketches you wanna pitch in (needs to be at 300dpi also).
Ethird: I know you ain't putting anything into the book this year, but we could still use you at our table if you don't mind. We'll be selling some of our old doujin, so you'll still have a place at our table as a participating artist. It's only if you want though, you don't have to. Plus i'll be showcasing some of yer work on the laptop as well, it won't be totally awesome if 2 of the artists featured are missing this year.
Regarding my own position, i've finished 2 illustrations and just gotta colour the last. I have no shortage of sketches, so that's no worries.
I think we should have a meeting this coming Saturday to discuss the final layout and whatnot. It should be at least me and Kody there, E can come if he wants as well. We could use his expertise in the printing area.
After discussing the layout, we'll go check out that printing place and see what they can do for us. I'll try and bring some cover samples for us to test print, as well as some art from the regular pages to see how they would turn out. That being said, we'll be out to get paper on this day also.
This will be the final say in the book layout. After this, it'll be set in stone. We don't have time to mess around in this final stage, so after we've come to a satisfying conclusion with the printouts, i'll complete the book and get them printed asap.

Okay so heres where we stand as of this moment.
We are all registered to participate in Doujin Overload 2008.I handed in the form today.I got there and Seong said there was no tables left with a dead serious face.....what a funny guy --___--
Thankfully he said we can pay later or we dont have to pay(i cant remember which) due to the fact that E drew the poster for them.
Also he said we can have 1 or 2 tables if we want...
David also asked if we wanted to reprint any of our past work such as the sketchbook we made last year.
As for printing Dave has offered his services im not sure when his deadline is tho.Alternatively we can get it printed at my aunts work(she works at an art gallery) Which i think would be pretty much the same as getting it done by dave price wise. However Dave has had the past experience with our doujins.Whichever way is cool.
I was wondering if we wanted to keep the sketches within the doujin or if we wanted to print them as a separate book..Im pretty much sketchin everyday...if we have enough it might be cool as its own thing and would fill up our table nicely.
and as we found out last year...people love sketchbooks over full blown color doujins.
Kody
p.s - where's Jeri? is he still in for the win?

23rd May, 2008
Okay, I think we need to discuss if this is actually gonna happen. Do you guys reckon that we should carry on making something for DO-2008?
Personally, im pretty busy with uni work and stuff, so i don't mind either way. On one hand, i'm busy enough without the doujin, but on the other i'll probably feel like i've missed out if we decide to pass. So i'm 50/50 on this. With E sitting out and Jeri in Aussie, i think it feels a little incomplete anyway.
If we decide to go for it, then we've got some last minute cramming to do again. If not, then it might make life easier for everyone.
Let me know what u guys think.

Des had the toughest responsibility out of the four of us. I never dared mention it to ya before the event, because I wouldn't know what to do if you suddenly decided that you wouldn't wanna put up with it anymore
Thanks a google Des. We couldn't have done this with out ya man! Three Cheers!
You guys are my non-related brothers

I would quite happily rank it's presentation, art etc. with the type of doujin professionals who go to Comiket.
And I loves it! Thanks ^___^
